I bought this safe to delay the destruction of various documents in the event of a fire or hurricane, which is the greater threat in the panhandle of Florida. While I could bolt it to the floor so no one could walk off with it, I decided I'd rather have the ability to get it out of the house if there is sufficient time. It's sturdy and heavy enough to deter a walk through burglar, but it's not (and doesn't promote itself as) a security safe able to withstand a determined, prolonged assault from a knowledgeable suspect. Nothing is perfect, but this safe serves it's purpose, providing additional protection and a central location for those items that have value to you.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by MMMichel from combo dial feels cheap The combo dial does not turn smoothly, it feels ratchety and cheap, like a kid's toy. Other then that it seems fine. It has plenty of room for the docs I want to keep protected, and it's heavy and does seem very solid. Assuming it lives up to it fire and water ratings, The dial feel will keep me from recommending this safe. And honestly, I don't think it's broken, I think it's just a cheap part. For me, it's just not worth my time or effort to return the safe. And for my use, I can live with the dial and hope it doesn't fail at some point.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by Kmahall from It's alright for the price. It's alright for the price because of the space saving size. The weight and dimensions of the safe empty does make it more cumbersome to move. I am disappointed because the latch and combination lock are plastic which makes me wonder if I break either or, I will not be able to retrieve my valuables. I do appreciate having a "double lock" system; a combination lock in addition to have a key. The key lock makes me feel "more secure". The four bars locking system doesn't seem like it is "pry" proof but I'll take Sentry's word on that. Also the bolting (bolt to the floor) system voids the water resistance; flooding is something I pray I never have to deal with. Overall - it's alright for the price and I will definitely upgrade to a metal latch and combination lock.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by Art6x7 from Very Well Made After hemming and hawing and looking at hundreds of safes, I got the SFW123DUB for it's fire and water protection. I needed a place for important papers and my dad's old camera. Also, I could just go down to Lowe's and pick one up. I was worried about the mechanical combination lock. Reviewers for some safes had trouble with this type of lock, but so far after 6-7 openings it has worked perfectly, opening first time every time. I see why people complain about the plastic handle, but for the size of this safe it's more than adequate. I was also worried about the price. I'm a subscriber to the adage, "Ya get what ya pay for". This safe seemed too inexpensive. Don't know how they do it for that price, but this safe seems like a solid, well made piece of work. All in all it's what I wanted and then some.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by john15003 from It is not water resistant when secure to the floor The safe looks good and is large enough to store all our documents and valuables. However, I was a bit disappointed to learn that the water-resistant property disappears if you bolt the safe down. Although heavy, if it us nit bolted down, it is not heavy enough to prevent one strong individual from picking it up and carrying it out of the house along with your valuables. Other safe manufacturers have found a solution to this problem and will still guarantee their products in the event of high water. We have had one of our properties burn and we know just how much water the fire department will use! Water from the basement was overflowing into the street. The locking mechanism is also noisy, sounding like it needs some oil on the tumblers.
