A History of Hard Work

In 1930, during the Great Depression, John Brush, Sr. and his brother-in-law, Willard Punnett, opened a small shop for the manufacture of safes. By sticking to a simple formula — quality products at reasonable prices through innovative engineering — the Brush-Punnett Company began to thrive.

Over the years, John Brush's three sons — Jack, Dick and Bob — joined the firm. The company name changed to Sentry Group in 1987, but we remain family-owned. Today, members of the third generation — Doug and Jim Brush — provide our leadership.

A global presence, Sentry Group today produces more fire-resistant chests, files, safes, security storage containers and gun safes than any other company in the world. Still, our founders' simple dedication — to quality, affordability and innovation — guides all that we do.

Sentry Group has won numerous awards for their product design and retail service — this comes from the hard work and dedication of our people. Because Sentry Group is a family-owned business, all employees take special pride in working for the Brush family. In turn, the Brush family provides employees with many personal touches not found in other companies. One of these perks is the beautiful artwork and sculptures from Dick Brush’s personal art collection that adorn our lobby, property and employees’ personal work spaces.

DEAR SENTRY SAFE,

We experienced a fire in our home and lost the entire second floor. The Sentry®Safe was in our closet directly over the area in our bedroom closet where the fire started.
