Rated 1 out of 5 by AmazonT6331 from Poor battery spring equipment installed initially Previously, I owned a Sentry Safe for many, many years and never had a problem. When I received this current safe, the problem was immediate upon delivery to me and I have not been able to fix it. Specifically, the springs holding and securing the 4 batteries in the battery containment device are extremely weak and loose. One the batteries are installed, they will not allow battery power from the batteries to remain constant. I have to keep using the key to open the safe door. The keypad becomes useless I am planning to send the safe back to Amazon for replacement. If this problem is not fixed, I will request termination of the purchase for this device and seek a better product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Some reg guy from Pretty dirty and pin non reprogramable! When I got this unit from Costco, it took forever to get. IN fact they lost the first 2 safes and this is the third one and it took almost 2 months. When the safe arrived, it was filthy and dirty. Even the interior was extremely dusty. I had to vacuum it and wipe the inside down extensively. The other sad part is that it comes with a master PIN that CANNOT be reprogrammed. I asked my staff to open it up and they Brough me the master PIN that cannot be replaced. So now my staff know the PIN which defeats the purpose of having a safe! I emailed Sentry but they have still to respond. It's been awhile.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Capt_K from Lucky it came with a key. Overall an ok safe for the price. I am lucky it came with a key, as the batteries for the electronic key pad are accessed from inside the safe door. Issue is, that the cover that holds the batteries in place has a gap between the cover and the batteries. This allows the batteries to move out of position just enough that they do not allow the keypad to work. (Even when closing the door as gently as humanly possible). My work around was to attach some foam packing to the inside of the battery cover which ensures the batteries stay in place, (even when the door is slammed in a fit of rage...…….I tested it to that level). This is the second model of safe I have purchased from this manufacturer, I expected better quality than that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Economist411 from Set up needs improvement Your initial combination should be something like 12345, so that the key would not be needed to initially open the safe. The plastic bag containing the instructions and keys should not be secured as is. Tape it to the side of the safe... much easier to open. Battery cover should be simplified. The latch is impractical since it made of plastic. It can easily break when attempting to open to replace the battery. Better if the key holder cover slides down over the opening. It doesn't need to be secure because if it's closed, you'll need the combination!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Scott S from Rough Ride Needed a larger safe and this is able to hold all my valuables. The safe arrived at a Home Depot and I picked it up. The box look like it had a rough ride when I picked it up. After opening the box the safe had a small scratch and a small ding on the backside. When I opened the safe the cover to lock mechanism was broken. This probably happened because of the weight of the safe. Sentry’s packaging should be in cased in better material to protect it against poor handling while it is being shipped. Overall the safe will meet my needs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Battery compartment bad from Digital keypad/battery compartment are bad. The inside battery cover does not stay in place well. the slightest movement and the batteries barely shift and the keypad won’t work. The batteries must also have “expiration date 10 years in the future” or so I was told when I called. My first set of new batteries lasted less than a month. I only open the safe a few times a week. Size and weight are good but this issue makes it not a good choice. I would not recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Pat1 from Don't lose your key - the keypad is often u/s Safe is great - but for one problem. The batteries tend to fall out of the back of the door (inside the safe) - rendering the keypad inoperable. The battery container is cheap plastic with too much space so the batteries pop out unless you are very very careful closing the door. We now use sticky tape to keep them in

Rated 2 out of 5 by hatrack from I recommend the manual dial version of this safe. I bought this safe in about 2012 from Costco. The store only offered the push button model. Sadly, in 2020 the battery holder fell apart AND the dial fell to the floor in peices. The only remedy Sentry gave me is a new battery holder which I had to install. I was able to install the new battery holder on the inside wall of the door. The good news is - I was able to re-assemble the ring and push buttons back on the door so the push buttons actually opperate the electronics so the safe acts like new. On the flip side of this complaint, I am very pleased with the safe itself. I have it bolted to the floor through the carpet in my master bedroom closet. The point of my whole comment is that I HIGHLY recommend the manual dial version of this safe if you are in the market. I do NOT recommend the keypad version.
